449: Spy Photo -- 2010 Radish

Spotted at the 2009 SF Expo... the new 2010 Radish from Xtracycle.

This bad boy was perched atop the Xtracycle Airstream that was parked on the show floor.

The Xtracycle team tells me that this will be available mid 2010. It is slightly redesigned from the current Radish with a lower top bar to enable easier step throughs. Anyone who has ridden an Xtracycle loaded with groceries or kids can relate... getting your foot over a high top bar is tough. Great solution for the height challenged among us. :)

Some other tweaks as well, like an integrated chainguard on the front chain ring to help eliminate chain drops.

Watch for it at an LBS near you!

448: Jonas' Xtracycle

Hi Xtracycle Gallery, great site, thanks! Here's a pic of my Xtracycle, a black Electra Townie. Me and my bike are located in and around Berlin, Germany and attracting some attention.

Especially when carrying some load, for instance these three potted plants - my company was moving offices and I wanted to show off my xtra's carrying capacity.

It came with a 3-speed internal gear hub, which I traded up into a 8-speed. I did it almost by myself but in the end Maik of www.elpotosports.de had to help out with some tricky bits.

Keep up the good work... Jonas

444: Colinus' Xtracycle

Hi, here is my Xtra, hope you enjoy them and publish to the blog!

- the snapdeck has eight leds inserted in the thickness, four red on the rear and four oranges on the sides, with 4 minutes standby function
- the snapdeck is rubber coated for non-slip loadings
- the two v-racks are wrapped with old inner tubes

And... I ride in Switzerland, Geneva (Europe), where there is not soooo mutch Xtracycles! For now I've only seen the #329 in the fields near my house.

A lot of fun, and my car looks terrified!

Have a sweet ride!

442: James Stokemonkey Longtail

From Violet Crown Cycles site:

Completed Xtracycle bike with Stokemonkey pedal assist system.

Over the summer, a customer approached me about building a Ferguson city bike with a pedal assist drive train built in. Since he wanted to also keep the internal hub, we turned to the Stokemonkey system from Portland. Since this system requires a quite a bit of space behind the seat tube, a long tail bicycle was designed. To give the customer the most accessory flexibility, the Xtracycle platform was chosen.

MUCH more detail at Austin on Two Wheels...

441: Teddy (Rick D's) Xtracycle

Got the name from a Teddy bear Rick picked up one day commuting to work. Super tricked out, custom LED ground fx and seat lighting. Aluminum tape on the uprights to shed water, bmx folding pegs for short legged passengers. Very cool guy, from Nashville, swung by XC HQ since he was in the area for the month working for Southwest.
