My Xtracycle installed on a 2007 Jamis Citizen 1.0 700c hybrid. Used riser plugs to lift Vracks and snapdeck so I could get a fender on the stock 700cx38 tire. Just fit. I added a Stokemonkey electric motor to make this a combination hauling/commuting machine. It really tames the hills; carrying 80 lbs (my highest load) or nothing is about the same with the Stokemonkey. Only difference is the speed climbing hills.

Completed Xtracycle bike with Stokemonkey pedal assist system.

Over the summer, a customer approached me about building a Ferguson city bike with a pedal assist drive train built in. Since he wanted to also keep the internal hub, we turned to the Stokemonkey system from Portland. Since this system requires a quite a bit of space behind the seat tube, a long tail bicycle was designed. To give the customer the most accessory flexibility, the Xtracycle platform was chosen.

419: Cara Lin's Instigator Xtracycle

My bike's been overhauled a bit. This summer, I've added new cruiser bars and a layback Thompson's seatpost for a more up-right and relaxed posture and handlebars off my seatpost for a passenger or better loading of bathtubs... Next step is to saw out a new snapdeck from a nice board I picked up from someone else's trash pile.

My frame is the 16" Surly Instigator--and that's as small a frame as will work. The Stokemonkey was a TIGHT fit, literally 2-3 mm clearance.
