126: Rick's 700c Big Dummy

Just built my Big Dummy 22". Been putting it through its paces and found that rockin' out 27c (max I can fit, only have 1mm-2mm of clearance!) on deep V rims seems to handle most of the loads I throw at it. The build fotos are with 23c's I believe, they worked, but I pinched flatted once and got glass the other time in Las Vegas. Will be interesting to see how the wheel build holds up over time. But, so far so good.

Build details:

  • 22" Big Dummy Frame/Fork
  • Thomson Stem/Post
  • Surly Mr. Whirly Cranks/BB
  • Velocity Rims on Alfine Hubset
  • Avid BB7 Disc Brakes
  • Ergon Grips
  • King Headset
  • Some sweet pedals I can't recall at the moment
  • On One chain tensioner
  • 1979 Brooks Saddle from my Dad
  • Down Low Glow (Green-2 Tubes)
  • TekDeck & FreeLoaders

  1. Scratch that, I'm rockin' 28c Nimbus tires. THAT'S the max you can fit.
